Mendocino Group Report

Mary Walsh
Mendocino Group

The Executive Committee along with much of Mendocino County is positively giddy with delight over the passage of Measure H, the anti-GMO initiative. (See Mendocino Says No to GMO's.) The most recent meeting was nearly completely taken over with assignments of committee chairs and the planning of how most effectively to implement the arduously arrived at endorsements of various candidates and issues. Daniel Myers handed over a complete file on the tortured history of the attempt over years to arrive at a Grading Ordinance for Mendocino County, the most recent twist of which is the stalling of the process due to a charge of Conflict of Interest against a member of the County Planning Commission. The matter will be reviewed by the State Fair Political Practices Committee.

The next meeting of the Mendocino Group will take place in Boonville on April 8 at the new firehouse. There will be an as of yet undetermined presentation at 7PM and the public is very cordially invited to attend. Flyers will be posted to announce the subject before the event. Simple refreshments will be served.

The Mendocino Group Executive Committee is looking to increase its number. Interested parties may phone Bernie MacDonald at 937-4352, or come to the next meeting at the Firehouse in Boonville.

A small correction to last issue's Group election results, Julie Verran was not elected to the Excom; Mary Walsh was.
