Volunteer/Activist Opportunities

Activist/Volunteers Needed:

Russian River Watershed Council: The Sierra Club (Sonoma Chapter) needs a representative at these important meetings. The Council considers issues affecting the river and its fishery. It meets bimonthly on Saturday. The representative should be interested in river preservaton and reclaimation issues and committed to participating regularly. Contact: Keith Kaulum, 823-5569.

Festivals: Meet new people at the Sierra Club booth at upcoming festivals. Be with other Sierra Club members selling coffee, gear etc. Festivals include: Spring Wildflowers, Health & Harmony, Duncan Mills Art & Wine, Bodega Bay Seafood and others. Work for three hours and get free admission to enjoy the festival! Call Diana 823-4293.

Work on Political Campaigns! Meet with candidates, precinct workers and other interested Club members to help elect our endorsed candidates. Choose the specific jobs you like. Contact Nona WinonaL@aol.com.

Environmental Center Office: Volunteer one afternoon a week (or a month). Help keep the Environmental Center open more hours. Read your novel, share in group tasks, meet the public and be involved. Call Diana at 823-4293.

Sonoma Group Membership Chair needed to introduce new members to activities and groups within the Club. Person will attend Environmental Forums once a month and spend 2-3 hours meeting new members. Contact Diana: 823-4293.

Teachers, Retired Teachers, or Aspiring Teachers: If you care about passing on the love of our environment, we need your help! The Sierra Club would love to teach our local kids about our Endangered Species in Sonoma County, especially our California Tiger Salamander. We need help in developing such a curriculum for our schools. Such a curriculum could be immensely fun for the kids and fun to develop. Anyone ready to get started on it? You don't have to be a teacher, just have the interest in developing such a worthy project. Call Sara at 707-541-7273.

Wilderness Campaign Volunteers: Protect California’s Wild Places! California residents and Sierra Club volunteers have a proud history of protecting its wild places through grassroots volunteerism and political activism.
