What can a person do? The invasive Ludwigia hexapetala now dominates large sections of the Laguna with potentially detrimental results. Ludwigia has frightening repercussions ranging from increased mosquito numbers - with the potential of West Nile virus - to depleted levels of dissolved oxygen in the water inherently endangering fish and native plants. There has to be a solution! Dr. Sears will discuss the range of impacts, ongoing and proposed research for finding sustainable solutions to the Ludwigia problem, and the interim plans to control the worst parts of the infestation. Here's one more water issue for us to examine. |
