Siskiyou Field Institute
2006 Field Programs

The Siskiyou Field Institute (SFI) offers field programs that teach about the unique and incredibly diverse natural world found in the Klamath-Siskiyous. Programs are tailored for a wide range of skill and age levels, from nature awareness for kids to technical scientific studies of the region's biota. Birds, botany, bats, fish, fungi and speleogy - join SFI and get out exploring this special place with the region's experts!

Our 2006 season promises to be full of more fun and engaging field programs! This season's schedule includes:

  • Wildflowers and Plants of the Illinois River Canyon May 21
  • Coastal Ecology June 15-1
  • Forests & Fungi: Intro to Mycology June 19-23
  • Exploring the Forest Canopy July 15 & 16
  • Pelagic Birds and Shorebirds: Birding the Northern California Coast Aug 5-6

SFI also offers courses for the whole family (children 10 and up):

  • Smith River Watershed Discovery August 25-27
  • To Infinity and Beyond: SW Oregon Astronomy July 15
  • Family Rafting Adventure August 15
