REDWOOD NEEDLESPresented by the Sierra Club Redwood Chapter Newsletter, The REDWOOD NEEDLES
Is there anything like the face of a child discovering something for the first time?
Come join other volunteers from the community as a WildCare Nature Guide. Lead school children on nature walks at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa. Enjoy learning at an easy pace about outdoor teaching techniques and about the animals and plants and their different habitats.
Nature Guides will learn how to help children explore our natural world using the sensory approach of famed Bay Area naturalist Elizabeth Terwilliger. Fall training classes will be held every other Saturday: September 15, 29, October 13, 27, and November 10. Meet for the first class September 15 at WildCare: Terwilliger Nature Education and Wildlife Rehabilitation center at 70 Albert Park Lane in San Rafael. Other classes will take place at various WildCare field trip locations in Marin and Sonoma Counties.
New volunteers train with current Guides on Wednesday mornings at Spring Lake and will begin leading small groups of children from kindergarten to sixth grade in late fall. Commit to volunteer six hours a month during the school year as a Nature Guide.
Training fee: $50
