Sonoma Group's
September Environmental Forum

Environmental Sociology
is Social Accountability!

Featuring Elaine Wellin
from Sonoma State University

Wednesday, September 17th
7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
Environmental Center
404 Mendocino Ave., Suite A
Downtown Santa Rosa

A relatively new field, Environmental Sociology explores the various ways our society contributes to environmental degradation.

This Forum will cover differing social organizations, like private capital, government and the roles of major social institutions; social inequalities and the widening gap between the richer and poorer; overpopulation; and social issues surrounding health concerns.

Alternatives will be touched on including safer methodologies, protecting our collective "commons," and the various arms of U.S. and global environmental movements.

We'll explore the nature of differing social organizations in relation to the environment and the Sierra Club's regional and local foci as examples. The discussion will be an overview aimed at sparking thoughtful conversation and questions.

Call 544-7651 for more information.

All Sierra Club members and the general public are invited.
