I invite you to participate in the Russian River Celebration. The event will be held in Mendocino, Sonoma and Marin counties. Sierra Club is a sponsor of several events this year. Please look for brochures in August at various locations. Log on to russianrivercelebration.org in late August to get the full schedule. We still need volunteers for the closing ceremony to put together a flotilla of kayaks to bring the ceremonial water to the ocean on the last leg of the journey on Sept 19th. Call 546-6308 if you can help. Sadly we will not have the Russian River Appreciation Festival at the Hop Kiln Winery this year. The winery has been sold. The festival was a wonderful event for the environmental community. I thank Marty and Joyce Griffin for their support all these years. |
We need more volunteers for the August and September Benson Hut work parties. The plan will be to have all the old stoves and garbage taken out by helicopter when the new stove arrives, so we need lots of help to pack it up. We need to carry paint in also. Staining the outside of the hut will happen if we get the stain to the hut. I need an Outings Chair for the Ukiah area. Please contact me ASAP so we can get a program going. |
