REDWOOD NEEDLESPresented by the Sierra Club Redwood Chapter Newsletter, The REDWOOD NEEDLES
The Festival features numerous guided birding outings and specialty tours lead by experienced naturalists and members of local Audubon Society chapters, a wine and cheese reception for the fine art exhibition opening, Friday, January 19 and the Family Wildlife Exploration and Birding Day, Saturday, January 20, 9-4:30pm, on Mare Island in Vallejo. The Festival provides a greater awareness of and public access to the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge, comprised of over 13,000 acres spanning Sonoma, Napa and Solano Counties. Sustained enthusiasm for the annual Festival was a key factor in the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service_s decision to request Congressional funding for renovation of Building 505 as a permanent environmental education facility in the North Bay. Plan now to attend and become better acquainted with your wild neighbors!
