REDWOOD NEEDLESPresented by the Sierra Club Redwood Chapter Newsletter, The REDWOOD NEEDLES
By Nina Marino, Lake Group Chair
The Lake Group is focusing on supporting the addition of wilderness areas to our county. We have four candidates for wilderness: Cache Creek, Snow Mountain (we hope to add acreage to this area), Sanhedrin Mountain and Yuki, all unique and beautiful wild places. A letter writing campaign is being conducted to enlist the support of our county supervisors. We are also asking for their support in protecting Cache Creek as a wild and scenic river with outstanding recreational, wildlife and archeological values. Over the past few months, we've had well-attended outings in both the Snow Mountain and Cache Creek areas and we're looking forward to upcoming outings to Table Rock (overlooking Napa Valley), Mt. Konocti and a ski trip to the Peter Grubb hut in January.
Our next meeting, November 28th at the Kelseyville High School Library at 7 pm, will feature a multi-media slide show on the spectacular wildlife of Death Valley during a season of unusually heavy rainfall &endash; 3 inches.
