12th Annual Russian River Cleanup Results

The 12th Annual Russian River Cleanup was held September 25th and 26th. More than 325 volunteers cleaned the river by foot and by canoe between Cloverdale and Guerneville. Volunteers collected 154 tires, 1054 pounds of glass, 36.5 pounds of aluminum, 43 pounds of class 1 and 2 plastic bottles, many yards and pounds of assorted metal and other trash. The Sunday crew, which included people from Sonoma County Water Agency, Sonoma County Probation Camp and Sequoia Paddling Club, separated trash and recycling.

The post cleanup thank you pasta feed was at Steelhead Beach with food provided by Johnny Garlic's. It was a great place to relax after a day of work and sun! Other incentives included t-shirts and buttons.

The 1999 Russian River Cleanup was generously sponsored by or in association with the following businesses and agencies:
Sequoia Paddling Club/Sierra Club
Trowbridge Canoe Trips
Sonoma County Water Agency
The Pink Elephant of Monte Rio
Pacific Gas & Electric

Guerneville Graphics & Printing
Sprint Copy Center - Sebastopol
Sunrise Garbage Service
West Sonoma County Disposal Service
Integrated Waste Division of Sonoma County
Johnny Garlic's

and other businesses and individuals.

Many thanks to all the individuals who made this happen:
