Saturday overnight parking available at Sno-Park (get pass beforehand) on Donner Summit frontage road off I-80 near Boreal Ridge. Hut cost $9. Reservations by Dec 5th. Check made out to Sierra Club. Sat/Sun/Mon Jan 15-17 Snowshoe/Ski Backpack to New Bradley Hut Celebrate the 2nd winter in the new hut constructed under Doug Porter's supervision. Crews worked all fall and into winter to finish the hut for you. Located in Pole Creek . About 1,500` elevation gain. Trek a steady moderate uphill 5-6 miles on road in to about 7,500`. Great for cross-country skis. Take hwy. 80, south on 89, 6 mi. in to 6,000` elevation sign. mile past that is where you park at the Forest Road behind the stakes. Cost $21. Napa coordinator Ed Schreiber 253-0293 Sat/Sun/Mon Feb 19-20 Snowshoe/Ski Backpack to Ludow Hut Outing begins approx 10 am at the McKinney Creek Trailhead by southwest border of housing development west of Chambers Lodge by Hw 89 Lake Tahoe. Hut is at 7400` near Richardson Lake. Trek in is about 7 mi on a road with two small hills. Day hikes to Sourdough Hill and Lost Corner Hill. Views of Desolation Wilderness and Lake Tahoe. Cost $18. Meet at around 9:30 am at the front entrance to the parking garage at Sugar Bowl ski area on Donner Pass Rd. (old hwy 40 at the summit). Hut is at 8300` on the north slope of Anderson Peak along the Pacific Crest Trail. The first two miles are on the Sugar Bowl slopes, then up to Mt. Lincoln with 4 more miles along a wind swept ridge.
