Volunteer/Activist Opportunities

Activist/Volunteers Needed:

Russian River Watershed Council: The Sierra Club (Sonoma Chapter) needs a representative at these important meetings. The Council considers issues affecting the river and its fishery. It meets bimonthly on Saturday. The representative should be interested in river preservaton and reclaimation issues and committed to participating regularly. Contact: Keith Kaulum, 823-5569.

Sonoma Group Writer: Have you always dreamed of being a published writer? Work with local Sierra Club leadership to inform our members about environmental issues and the Sonoma Group's response. Your articles will appear in the Redwood Needles!

Sonoma Group Conservation Committee: Are you concerned about conservation issues? Would you be interested in doing research on subjects like gaming casinos in Sonoma County? Or airport expansion? Is forest protection more your thing? Or the County's Disaster Plan? Join the Conservation Committee and learn more, explore more, do more. We meet first Monday of every month. See the Meeting Calendar for specifics.

Work on Political Campaigns! Meet with candidates, precinct workers and other interested Club members to help elect our endorsed candidates. Choose the specific jobs you like. Contact Nona WinonaL@aol.com.

Environmental Center Staff: Volunteer one afternoon a week (or a month). Help keep the Environmental Center open more hours. Read your novel, or share in group tasks, meet the public and be involved. Call Diana at 823-4293.

Membership Chair needed to introduce new members to activities and groups within the Club. Person will attend Environmental Forums once a month and spend 2-3 hours meeting new members. Contact Marsha at 526-9233.

Wilderness Campaign Volunteers: Protect California’s Wild Places! California residents and Sierra Club volunteers have a proud history of protecting its wild places through grassroots volunteerism and political activism.
