The Next 20 Years:
Sonoma County's General Plan Update

Wednesday, February 16, 2005
7:00 to 9:00 PM
Environmental Center,
404 Mendocino Ave., Suite A
Downtown Santa Rosa

Sonoma County is expected to grow by 130,000 people by 2025 -- the equivalent of adding another Santa Rosa! How will the County meet the challenge of accommodating this growth while protecting natural areas, working farms, and distinct communities that make the county such a great place to live? The County's General Plan has maintained extensive agricultural and natural areas, while guiding new growth into existing cities and towns. However, as the growth pressure on county's landscapes increases, the General Plan must evolve to meet the new challenges. Come hear what these challenges are and how together we can influence the future.

Call 544-7651 for more information. All Sierra Club members and the general public are invited.

February's panelists will be:

  • Kelly Brown
Greenbelt Alliance and co-author of the report: Toward a Bright Future: Updating Sonoma County's General Plan

  • Stephen Fuller-Rowell
