From old fashioned mainstreet retail in Petaluma or Windsor to green affordable housing in Santa Rosa, sophisticated community activists and progressive developers have brought the cutting edge of smart growth to Sonoma County, but superstore retail and wasteful sprawling subdivisions remain as big a threat as ever to our quality of life.
