The North Bay Central Labor Council will sponsor the Third Annual Labor and Social Action Summer School at Sonoma State University July 7th-8th at Sonoma State University.
The purpose of the school is "education for action" which will enhance the organizing skills of participants, educate about the history of labor and other movements for social justice, and provide an opportunity to establish collaborative relationships. Members of labor, environmental, civil rights, youth, faith-based, and women's groups and the public are invited to attend. The event will begin Friday at 7:30 with an address by Jim Hightower, best-selling author, talk-show host, and America's favorite populist.
On Saturday there will be twelve workshops focusing on issues such as the politics of transportation, working women, state and local elections, faith-based alliances with labor, income inequality, and labor history in the schools.
The cost for the entire conference, including three meals on Saturday, is $50 and scholarships are available.
Friday keynote fee is $7-$10 sliding scale. For more information call Tula Jaffe at (707)545-7349, ext. 22 or mbida@sonic.net
