13th Annual Russian River Cleanup

The thirteenth annual Russian River Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday September 23&endash;24, 2000. This event is sponsored in part by Sierra Club, Sequoia Paddling Club, Trowbridge Canoes, and PG&E. This year the Russian River Cleanup has changed its name to the Russian River Watershed Cleanup. It is a committee of the Sonoma County Group of the Redwood Chapter of Sierra Club. Bob Clemens is the coordinator of the organization committee.

Volunteers are needed to help with planning and organization of this two day event. Community members will clean up the river between Asti and the ocean by canoe and by foot on Saturday. Collected trash is sorted for recycling on Sunday.

The next organizational meeting is May 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Mary’s Pizza, Marlow and Piner, Santa Rosa. Call Bob Clemens at 887-2303 for information about future planning meetings.
