Sonoma County Coordinator needed for Coastal Cleanup
Day
The California Coastal Commission is looking for an
organization and one dynamic person to act as the county
wide coordinator for Coastal Cleanup Day in Sonoma County.
This is a fantastic job for an organization that is
dedicated to clean waterways and wants to motivate between
750&endash;1000 volunteers to come out on Saturday,
September 18, 1999 from 9 a.m. to noon to clean our beaches
and waterways. The county coordinator is the primary
organizer of the beach and waterway cleanup throughout the
county and makes all arrangements for the cleanup. Duties
include: recruiting site captains (many return year after
year), making arrangements with agencies or individuals
where cleanups will take place, delivering supplies to
volunteers, and arranging for trash hauling and recycling.
The county coordinator coordinates with the California
Coastal Commission, who supplies training for the job, all
materials including garbage and recycle bags, posters,
brochures, data cards, pencils, waiver forms and t-shirts
for key volunteers. For more information, call Becky
Steckler at (800) COAST-4U. Leave your name and number and
that you are interested in the Sonoma County Coastal Cleanup
Day Coordinator position.
