WATER EXTRACTION UPDATE: Our thanks to Assembly Member Patrica Wiggins for shepherding through the legislature her bill AB858 requiring that studies be done, before the State Water Board issues permits, on the potential impacts to salmon resulting from Alaska Water Exports' applications to extract water from the Albion and Gualala Rivers. Please take a moment to thank Pat Wiggins for her work. Her contact information is 50 D Street, #301, Santa Rosa 95404 or Patricia.Wiggins@asm.ca.gov.

We still must file protests to these applications as the studies apply only after the 60-day comment period (probably extended to 90 days thanks to the many calls and emails to the Water Board) is completed. We expect the notices opening the comment period will be sent out on September 13th. We will be hosting workshops for those who want help filling out their protest form. The Nov. 18th Sonoma Group Environmental Forum will be a workshop. For more information, see page 12. Please stay tuned for alerts about other workshops. For more info: Linda Perkins at 707-937-0903.
