"Do not be a magician, be magic."
- Leonard Cohen

Activist/Volunteers Needed:

Marketing Specialist: Sonoma Group is looking for someone with marketing expertise to join our climate campaign and help us develop outreach plans - to help people understand the problems of reducing carbon emissions and how the public can influence local government and business decisions. Contact Nabeel nabeel@alshamma.com.

Event Planner: Sonoma Group is in the early stages of planning a climate campaign. We anticipate holding public events to involve our local community. We are looking for someone with event planning expertise for this critical issue. Please contact Nabeel nabeel@alshamma.com.

North Group Hike Leaders: North Group is desperately seeking hike leaders. Please contact Al Muelhofer, the Outings Chair, at almuelhoefer@gmail.com; 707-482-0520.

Sonoma Group Environmental Forum Committee: Vice-chair and Committee members needed. Help plan the monthly meetings for the Sierra Club. Design speakers and programs. Create newsletter write ups and meet exciting environmental advocates throughout our community. 1-6 hours per month (except August and December). YOUR help is NEEDED. Try it, you will probably enjoy this creative way to give to the community and our future! Help specially needed for Transition Sonoma County and Citizen’s Climate Caucus forum segments. Help can be by email only and sporadic. Contact Veronica Jacobi vjacobi@sonic.net. Forums will only be quarterly, rather than monthly, until someone steps up to help. No long term commitment required.

Sonoma Group Water Committee: HELP SAVE WATER. Work with the Committee on water issues. We have completed our research and a summary of how to advance Rainwater Harvesting and Water Reuse in our area. Results will be available soon. The Water Committee is still planning to start a new initiative. Suggestions related to water are welcome. Come to our meeting at 7pm at the Environmental Center on October 1, November 5 and December 3. Help protect the quality of our water for people, wild life, fish and other aquatic life. Promote water conservation and intelligent reuse. Contact Len Holt at 707-527-7516 or at leonard.l.holt@us.mwhglobal.com.

For more information on these and other opportunities, call: Office Coordinator Tom Devlin (544-7651) or come by the office at our new location (55A Ridgway Avenue, Santa Rosa) Tuesday or Thursday 2-6pm or by appointment.
