NEWS RELEASE Napa County Sierra Club PO Box 644 Napa CA 94559 redwood.sierraclub.org/napa FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 1, 2003 CONTACT: Carol Kunze 707-966-5211 ckunze@ix.netcom.com NAPA SIERRA CLUB INAUGURATES NEW WEBSITE The Napa County Group of the Sierra Club today inaugurated its new website at http://redwood.sierraclub.org/napa . According to group chair Tyler York, "This was an effort begun under the previous Executive Committee. The new site will keep us in touch with our membership, provide contact information, and help recruit new members. Each area of our program has its own pages with explanations, schedules and contacts. Background information and archives will be handy without getting in the way. Members can subscribe to an email newsletter for notice of outings, events and positions of the Napa group. I'm especially pleased with the aesthetics of the new website, with color photos of Napa County scenery and wildlife on almost every page." "Our committee put in weeks of work discussing, designing, experimenting and redesigning for optimal results", said Website Committee chair Carol Kunze. "We also traveled the county photographing its famous scenery, like the Palisades above Calistoga. We will be changing photos about every six months. Members can submit their photos of Napa County's wild flowers and scenes from marsh to mountain for use on the site." Professional web developer Genji Schmeder, who on a volunteer basis implemented all technical aspects of the new website, said that, "A key design goal was ease of expansion and maintenance. We put a huge amount of work into the details of creating the website so our successors will find it easy to keep current and to introduce new features for the expanding program of the local Sierra Club." Outings Committee Vice-Chair Wally Juchert said, "I'm thrilled with these new tools for advertising our hikes and recruiting new outings leaders. With events displayed for months ahead on a convenient calendar, our members should have the information they need to join our hikes and ski trips." # # #
