BACKGROUND: I spent 20 years as an attorney in Washington, D.C., Brussels and San Francisco. Currently I serve as the Executive Director of Berryessa Trails and Conservation, the Napa County representative to the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council and the Chair of the Trails and Recreation Committee of the Blue Ridge Berryessa Natural Area Conservation Partnership.

REMARKS: It is vital that Napa County work together as a community to address existing risks and threats to our environment, with the long term goal of creating a sustainable future. Finding the appropriate balance of development (residential, commercial, agricultural) and open space in the face of pressures for more housing and expanded development, is the challenge that we face. We need to work toward building the need for county-wide sustainability into private, commercial, and government development and planning decisions.

ISSUES: My particular concerns are the health of the Napa River, the revision of the conservation regulations, invasive species and restoration of native habitat in eastern Napa County, the redevelopment of the Lake Berryessa Recreation Area, and access to open space.
